The Joy of the Lord is My Strength

I could only respond with a deep sigh after a friend asked me last night how my week went. What an emotional roller coaster ride this past week was for me with some pleasant and not so pleasant series of events. It was tough to shift your emotions from the joy of hearing about a new born baby, to the passing of a dear friend’s brother, who was like a brother to me as well; from rejoicing with a newly-engaged friends, to a friend who lost a wife; from celebrating a brother’s birthday to a sister who is upset; from a friend who successfully went through a surgery to a series of treatments to fully recover; from my husband who understands and takes this emotional ride with his wife as his way of giving comfort and a reminder that “… the joy of the Lord is my strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)

Thank you Lord, for the week that was. For it is only by your grace that we are able to wake up to another day. Help our family and friends find this joy in You alone as they go through the rough roads of life. Preserve the joy of those whose favors were granted and restore the sick to their health. And as you perform these miracles in them, may your name be glorified. In Jesus name, Amen.
